This is why so many sober men describe the same strange thing — the drinking stops and something underneath it does not. The rage that has nowhere to go now. The compulsion that just moves house, into work, food, the phone, the gym, spending. You did not defeat it. You denied it one exit.
And a thing that has been in a family for three generations does not pack up and leave because one man in the line stopped cooperating.

Salvation is a status. Renunciation is a transaction. You can have the first and never once have done the second.
That is not a loophole in the gospel. It is the reason authority was given to you rather than exercised for you.
